CORE Advanced is for the advanced rescuer who is expected to manage and supervise resuscitation events.

Before attending the face-to-face training, CORE Advanced learners should have access to "Resuscitation – A Guide for Advanced Rescuers"  for pre reading at least three weeks prior to attending a course. This is available through the NZRC shop.

The CORE Advanced course is delivered as a series of modules covering the essential practical skills of resuscitation.

  • Adult collapse management plan

  • Child and infant collapse management plan

  • AED defibrillation

  • Manual defibrillation

  • Initial approach to trauma

  • Management of airway obstruction and breathing

Four sets of scenarios are carried out to focus on adult collapse, child collapse, management of injury & medical emergencies.

To gain CORE Advanced certification there is a formal assessment of the skills of resuscitation as well as assessment of theoretical knowledge and cardiac rhythms.
